The Review: Invitation Only
High above the busy streets of Bangkok, Invitation Only feels like a secret you’re lucky to find. Located on the 55th floor of Empire Tower, this rooftop lounge is stylish and sophisticated without ever feeling intimidating. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel welcome, surrounded by warm lighting, comfortable seating, and stunning panoramic views of the city skyline.
As the sun sets and Bangkok begins to sparkle below, Invitation Only transforms into a perfect evening destination. This is not a place to rush through dinner or drinks. It’s a place to relax, enjoy the moment, and let the
night unfold naturally. From the first dish, the kitchen shows its attention to detail. We started with Shrimp Cocktail Bites, beautifully presented and light in flavor. Each bite was fresh and clean, with a gentle sweetness from the shrimp that made for a refreshing beginning to the meal. It was simple, elegant, and a great way to set the tone for what was to come.
Next came the Hokkaido Scallop Ceviche, and this dish truly impressed. The scallops were soft and delicate, prepared with care to keep their natural sweetness. Bright citrus flavors lifted the dish and added a fresh, lively touch. It felt perfectly suited to a rooftop setting light, refined, and easy to enjoy. This was one of those plates that makes you slow down and really taste each bite.
The Piri Piri Chicken on the stick brought a deeper, warmer flavor to the table. Juicy and lightly smoky, it had just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting without being too hot. This dish felt both comforting and polished at the same time. Paired with cocktails and city views, it added a satisfying balance to the meal.
The true star of the night arrived with the Spaghetti Chili Shrimp Paste with Ebiko. Intensely flavorful and unapologetically bold, it made an instant impression. The pasta had just the right bite, coated in a fiery, savory sauce infused with shrimp paste and chili, while the ebiko added playful bursts of salt and crunch. Every forkful was exciting, and it remained the most talked-about dish of the evening long after dinner ended.
The cocktails were just as impressive as the food. The signature Invitation Only cocktail was both beautiful and complex, made with floral and pink gin, rose berry, craft raspberry, and coconut. Light, fragrant, and refreshing, it was a pleasure to sip while taking in the city views. It felt carefully crafted and well balanced, not too sweet and not too strong.
Another favorite was the Bouquet Toss, a lovely mix of gin, rose, lychee, and citrus. Soft floral notes combined with a gentle fruitiness that made it easy to drink and very enjoyable. These were not just drinks — they were part of the experience, created with creativity and care.
Adding to the atmosphere was the live music. The easy-listening performance was smooth and relaxing, creating a cozy lounge feeling without overpowering conversation. The music floated gently through the room, making the space feel intimate and welcoming. It was the kind of background sound that makes you want to stay just a little longer.
Service throughout the evening was friendly and attentive. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to give recommendations. Everything felt natural and unforced, making the experience feel personal rather than formal.
Bangkok has many rooftop bars, but Invitation Only offers something different. It’s not just about the height or the view — it’s about how everything comes together. The food, the cocktails, the music, and the atmosphere all work in harmony to create a relaxed and memorable night out.
Invitation Only is more than just a rooftop lounge. It’s a place to unwind, enjoy great food and drinks, and take in the beauty of Bangkok from above. It’s a place you don’t simply visit once — it’s a place you look forward to returning to, hoping to be invited back again.
