Bangkok Patana School is Thailand's oldest and largest British international school, founded in 1957 to provide a British-style education for the children of English-speaking expatriates and others living in Bangkok. Operating as a not-for-profit foundation, the school reinvests entirely in staff, facilities, and learning resources, ensuring the best possible environment for its students.

History & Foundation

Founded in 1957, Bangkok Patana has held a strong reputation for providing a rigorous British-style education for nearly seven decades. The school began as a small institution serving the expatriate community and has grown into one of the most respected educational establishments in Southeast Asia, with a current enrolment of over 2,300 students from more than 60 nationalities. Over 20% of students are British, and 80% of staff are recruited directly from the UK or British international schools.

Campus & Facilities

The school occupies a superbly resourced 17-hectare campus in the Bangna district, conveniently located near the BTS Skytrain system. Facilities include state-of-the-art classrooms and IT infrastructure, a fully equipped Science Centre, a technologically advanced Arts Centre, Secondary and Primary Libraries, Design and Technology classrooms, an outdoor classroom, three swimming pools, an indoor sports centre, tennis courts, games pitches, a gymnastics centre, and a theatre. The school has also installed solar arrays and pre-cooled fresh air filtered systems across all buildings to support student health and sustainability.

Curriculum & Academic Excellence

Students from 18 months to 18 years follow the English National Curriculum, sitting IGCSE examinations at Year 10–11. In Years 12 and 13, senior students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or a modified Patana Certificate. The IB Learner Profile has been adopted across the school to support all learners. Graduates are consistently accepted into leading universities in the UK, the US, and throughout the world.

Beyond the Classroom

The school offers more than 400 Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) during the academic year, with over 90% of students attending one or more. Activities span community service, sports, music, arts, Model United Nations (MUN), the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, Interact, and Habitat for Humanity. Sports teams compete under the name of the Tigers, participating in BISAC, SEASAC, and FOBISIA tournaments across basketball, football, volleyball, softball, swimming, badminton, and athletics.

Bangkok Patana's mission is to ensure that students of different nationalities grow to their full potential as independent learners in a caring British international community. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is an IB World School. Thai student intake is limited to approximately 20%, with a separate application process for Thai nationals. The school is silver certified green and actively promotes sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
